Policy Priorities
Housing: Protect Black and Brown Families
- AB 11 (Lee) – Social Housing Act
Establishes the California Housing Authority to create permanently affordable, publicly-owned housing for low- to moderate-income families.
Real Safety: Protect Our Youth
- AB 1279 (Sharp-Collins) – Abolish Juvenile 3-Strikes Enhancements
Ends the use of juvenile charges to enhance adult sentences and creates a pathway for removing existing enhancements.
Reparations: Repair the Past
- AB 57 (McKinnor) – Homeownership Assistance for Black Descendants of Enslaved People
Allocates funds to support Black homeownership, addressing wealth gaps caused by systemic racism. - AB 62 (McKinnor) – Restitution for Racially Motivated Eminent Domain
Establishes a statewide process for restitution to those whose property was taken due to racial discrimination. - AB 7 (Bryan) – Preference in College Admissions
Supports equitable admissions policies to address historical exclusion of Black students from higher education.
Healthcare: Support Black Maternal Health
- AB 55 (Bonta) – Expand Medi-Cal Access to Alternative Birthing Centers
Improves maternal outcomes by providing pregnant individuals access to alternative birth centers and doulas.
Environmental Justice: Hold Polluters Accountable
- SB 684 (Menjivar) & AB 1243 (Addis) – Climate Superfund Act
Requires major polluters to fund disaster response and sustainability projects in impacted communities. - AB 1380 (Elhawary) – Incarcerated Firefighter Certification
Creates opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals trained as firefighters to transition into careers post-release. - AB 262 (Caloza) – California Individual Assistance Act
Establishes grants to support local agencies and individuals impacted by natural disasters.
